"ER"'s ratings heartrate spiked Thursday night as George Clooney made his higly anticipated return to the show.

Clooney's appearance as Dr. Doug Ross delivered the medical drama it's best viewership ratings in two years, says Reuters.

The star departed the show in 1999 to pursue his movie career. "ER" is now in its final season.
